_Kidjo's first album for Island Records was recorded in Miami and Paris and produced by Miami Sound Machine drummer Joe Galdo and featured saxophonists Branford Marsalis and Manu DiBango. The album reached number one on the Billboard World Music chart. The album included music videos for her hit singles We We and Batonga. During this album Angelique made her first world tour and appeared at many festivals and was a headliner at Olympia Hall in Paris.
